Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in America. New york city was so quiet on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day). However, on this black Friday it became quite noisy, because there was a big sale. The day is the cheapest shopping day of the year. Best Bat (appliance store) was opened in the very early morning like before dawn on Friday. There was a long line at the entrance of the store. H&M Nike, too. When those shoppers get tired of shopping they take some break at a Starbucks cafe. I think that Americans’ financial situation seems to be better than last year. Because I was able to see lots of people standing in a queue and carrying a lot of bags.

Excuse me, Madam !
I’d like to have a day trip to Montserrat by bus.
Can I reserve the bus tour today ? Montserrat is a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat.
It takes about one hour North West from Barcelona by train.
The natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breathtaking.
You can enjoy magnificent views of some of the most unusual rock formations.

The Sainte Chapelle

写真
The Sainte Chapelle by Kobayashi.2014Nov.
I’ve been studying some history along with English learning at Maggie’s class, so it was a very fun visit to France this time.
The Sainte Chapelle is a beautiful church or chapel in France, on the island in the middle of the city of Paris. King Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis built it between 1241 and 1248 AD.
He was a good king. During wartime the countries who won the war were able to take their spoil without paying any money. However King Louis paid a fortune for this sacred crown. It is from the Byzantine Emperor, Baldwin II. When the piece of the Cross and the Crown of Thorns arrived at Louis’ palace, Louis wanted to build a chapel to keep his crown in. He wanted a beautiful chapel that would be worthy of his sacred crown that had touched the skin of Jesus.

Sedona is attracting spiritual seekers, and it is believed that this area is the center of vortexes that radiate the Earth’s power. I felt a great comfort while I was there. by Sakamoto.

Part;2 New York trip,

11th Nov Tuesday, it was the veteran’s day parade on 5th Avenue. The American public show their appreciation of all the older people who fought and died in WW1 and WW2. There was a lot of praising and clapping and applause. But the Japanese people here have mixed feelings about it and maybe they didn’t want to celebrate such an event. by Takeuchi T.

Oct.2014: A funny story from sweet Yanagi-san. I had a trip to England & France last month.
I bought a round trip ticket to Salisbury (to see Stonehenge ), When I bought the round trip ticket, although I had to pick two tickets from the ticket machine I only picked one.
So when I came back from Salisbury I wasn’t able to use the ticket that I thought was a round trip ticket. At the ticket office, the station conductor said “It’s your mistake, anyway you have to buy an extra ticket to London”
I even showed the receipt of the round trip ticket. She said “NO!”
I felt very miserable and thought the British were very strict. Moreover unless I ran to get the train, I wouldn’t have made it. I didn’t have leeway to memorize the platform number which the lady told me. When I turned back to try to ask the number she was already making a hand signal for number two.

Eng.

[How to get to Stonehenge from London. ] The nearest train station to Stonehenge is Salisbury. It is located south west of London. (It’s a very beautiful town. I was there at Christmas. ) From London, the trains depart from Waterloo Station to Salisbury about every hour. It takes about an hour and a half. From Salisbury station to Stonehenge, you can use a bus or taxi. It takes about 25 minutes.
